From November 20 to 22, the Ministry of Education, the National Commission for UNESCO of China and the Tianjin Municipal People’s Government jointly held the 2024 World Conference on the Development of Vocational and Technical Education in Tianjin.
On November 21, the 2024 World Conference on the Development of Vocational and Technical Education was held in Tianjin. Huai Jinpeng, Minister of Education, presided over the opening ceremony of the conference and delivered a keynote report. The President of the UNESCO General Conference delivered a video speech, and the Minister of Labor and Skills of Ethiopia and the Ambassador of New Zealand to China delivered speeches.
Before the opening ceremony, some guests visited the special exhibition. Everyone carefully observed the results of vocational education talent training and skill innovation, and carefully understood the promotion of vocational education to the protection and inheritance of intangible cultural heritage, service industry transformation and upgrading, and promote international exchanges and cooperation. They had in-depth discussions with exhibitors on strengthening mutual learning and mutual reference in vocational and technical education and deepening the integration of industry and education.

It is reported that this conference will have more than 600 foreign guests, including more than 40 at the ministerial level or above, which is the first time that the number of foreign guests exceeds that of domestic guests. The conference will also establish my country’s first World Vocational Education Award to further enhance my country’s shaping power on the development of world vocational education.
